Presented at: TESOL 2020

April 2, 2020 from 9:30 AM - 9:50 AM in Teaching Tip Theater #1

All learners have diverse lived experiences and distinct identities. This workshop compares two culturally based training ideals – Cultural Competency and Cultural Humility. Framing culture as intersectional inspires collaboration among participants in a self-reflective process and recognition of power imbalance. This empowers individuals to understand cultural limitation by asking difficult questions about biases and stereotypes.
