Incorporating community-based mentoring, with help from reliable volunteers, into your classroom may be the missing piece for many English language learners who need extra support outside the classroom. Mentoring is a supportive relationship that encourages the mentee's confidence, interpersonal skills, community integration and inclusion, professional development, and achievement in the classroom. This workshop will provide a framework for implementing a mentoring program with English language learners along with discussing benefits, pitfalls, and elements of effective practice.
