About the Webinar
In this interactive webinar, participants will learn programmatic and instructional strategies for supporting English learners in preparing for college and careers. An expert educator and English learner administrator from Prince George’s County Public Schools, MD will describe the program that is implemented in this large suburban district, as well as instructional strategies that could be used by teachers in any programmatic context to help support and prepare English learners for success in postsecondary settings.
About the Presenter
Kia McDaniel is the ESOL Instructional Supervisor at Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), in Maryland, overseeing all ESOL staff and all aspects of the district's K-12 ESOL instructional program, which currently serves over 20,000 English learners. She provides professional development to teachers throughout PGCPS, and teaches preservice teachers as a graduate and undergraduate Guest Lecturer at the University of Maryland, College Park. A former ESOL teacher and instructional specialist, she holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction: Bilingual Special Education from the George Washington University, and is completing her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership: Culturally Responsive Special Education at Bowie State University.
